Music for Relief was founded by American rock band Linkin Park in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. MFR has organized benefit concerts, online auctions and events with multi-platinum musicians and celebrities to help rebuild and donate supplies to people in need. Music for Relief has also planted over 1 million trees to help reduce global warming. Music for Relief has two immediate goals. The first goal is to respond to natural disasters as they occur to help survivors recover and rebuild. The organization also recognizes the environmental consequences of global climate change, which has demonstrated the capability to accelerate and strengthen certain types of natural disasters. Therefore, the second goal of Music for Relief is to mitigate damage caused by natural disasters by reducing greenhouse gasses and educating the public about climate change. ==About== Music for Relief is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by musicians, music industry professionals and fans to aid survivors of natural disasters and initiate programs to reduce global warming.
